What You'll Do

At Axiom Exergy, we are transforming the world’s cooling systems into intelligent, cloud connected energy storage assets and enabling a renewable energy future. We are focused on transitioning innovations quickly to market through rapid prototyping, design, iteration, and product deployment as a tight-knit engineering team.  We’re looking for an engineer who is ready to get her/his hands dirty, cares about building real products that produce real results, and has the drive and dedication required bring new energy technologies to market!

You will work directly with the CTO, VP of Engineering, and Computational Thermal Systems Engineer on the following strategic initiatives:

  • Integrated product and process development, including complete product lifecycle: product specification, design, analysis, procurement, fabrication, assembly, field installation/testing, and feedback.
  • Physical design of the next-generation Refrigeration Battery, including concept generation, DFx, detailed engineering design and analysis, materials and component selection, and incorporation of all applicable design standards.
  • Engineering documentation, including CAD, P&IDs, engineering drawings, assembly work instructions, product specifications, manuals, etc.  
  • First-principles system performance analysis, testing, and optimization using thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
  • Vendor, partner, and customer interaction.
  • Authoring white papers, industry publications, seminar papers/presentations, etc.
  • Anything else necessary to help.

Who You Are

  • An enthusiastic self-starter who can work with minimal supervision; you are passionate about technology innovation, bringing finished products to market, and clean energy technologies.
  • 5+ years of experience in new product introduction, product commercialization, value engineering, and DFx, with demonstrated success in developing and delivering products.   Experience with ASHRAE and UL standards preferred.
  • Proficient with engineering drawings (ASME Y14.5-2009) and experience with GD&T.
  • Analytical expertise in one of the following areas: component and system reliability, structural modeling, failure modes and effects analysis, and/or value engineering.  Experience with FEA and/or Python a plus.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD parametric modeling.  Solidworks preferred.
  • Expert in PDM.  Solidworks preferred.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers.
  • Experience with hand and power tools, general machining, and prototyping.
  • Experience with CNC machining, welding, brazing, next-generation manufacturing (e.g. 3D printing) a plus.
  • Experience with organic rankine cycles, refrigeration, waste heat recovery and/or HVAC systems preferred.
  • Familiarity with common mechanical systems, including hardware, fasteners, and common industrial products and techniques (e.g. strut, T-slot, etc.)
  • Familiarity with a wide array of manufacturing processes.
  • Intelligent yet humble; who enjoys being an engaged team player.
  • 7 - 10 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, M.S. preferred.

  • As with most startups, the work is demanding and the hours are long, but we make every effort to find an arrangement that works.
  • Moderate travel, mostly local.
